Design Leadership

My approach

Design leadership, to me, is about people first. It is about creating an environment where designers feel supported, trusted, and clear about their purpose. I focus on building strong teams, steady practices, and thoughtful systems so that good work can happen consistently and sustainably.

I lead with empathy and honesty. I care deeply about how people experience their work and how design shows up for the communities we serve. My goal is always to create space for clarity, growth, and meaningful impact.

How I lead

I ask questions, seek context, and work alongside teams to remove blockers and build momentum. I believe leadership is less about control and more about connection, trust, and shared accountability.

I am intentional about empathy, communication, and feedback. Designers do their best work when they feel seen, supported, and set up for success. I take that responsibility seriously.

What I focus on

Building strong design teams

I support designers through mentorship, coaching, and clear growth pathways. I help people understand their strengths, identify areas for growth, and build confidence in their voice.

Strengthening design practice

I work to create clear standards, usable documentation, and repeatable processes that make design work more consistent and accessible across teams.

Improving research and collaboration

I help teams plan and conduct thoughtful research and use those insights to guide decisions. I also focus on strengthening how design works with product, engineering, and content partners.

Sustainable ways of working

I am sensitive to burnout and workload balance. I encourage realistic planning, open communication, and healthy boundaries so teams can thrive long term.

What you can expect from working with me

You will experience a leadership style that is clear, caring, and empathetic. I will listen to your concerns, celebrate your progress, and support your growth. I will give honest feedback and invite honest conversation in return.

You can expect structure without rigidity, encouragement without pressure, and accountability without fear. I believe growth happens when people feel safe enough to try, fail, learn, and try again.

Why this matters

Design is not just about visuals or workflows. It is about the people doing the work and the people using the outcomes. When designers feel supported and connected, they create more thoughtful, inclusive, and impactful solutions.

I believe strong design leadership helps people feel confident, heard, and capable. That belief has shaped how I lead and how I continue to evolve as a leader today.
